I replaced the chassis and a used flyback. The WG manual states not to mess with the "screen" adjustment(monitor bias), since it's set at the factory. Since I haven't messed with it, but need to adjust some other things on the monitor, I'm curious how one could tell if it is set correctly? I only question this since the flyback came from a different monitor and it probably was set for that monitor specifically? Grateful for help on this.

It was set for the monitor as it shipped, but adjustment is often necessary after component replacement. Since you replaced everything, not just a single component, you will likely need to adjust it. I don't know of a set standard for "correct", it is more of a personal preference of what is bright enough while maintaining the blacks.

I think one guy on here says to turn it up until retrace lines appear and then turn it down until they go away, but I find that too bright for my taste...

Nah.....twist away. The 'screen' adjustment is your rough brightness. Your fine brightness is on a pot near the edge of the board. I'd say turn up the 'screen' adjustment on the flyback until you see retrace lines, then back it off a bit so the lines just disappear.

Ok thankyou for clearing that up guys! It's looking better now.
