Wells Gardner D9400

You have to get some type of picture in order to get the menu to pop up. Then you can do a factory reset by holding the DOWN and SEL buttons down at the same time, then choosing RE from the menu.

Isn't the 9400 a tri-res? You may need to try different resolutions to see which it's locked into, get the menu up, then reset it before the other resolutions will work...

Can't seem to get to anything but the normal OSD. Street Fighter 2 seemed to sync...but looks horrible.

I have a OSD button, FUNC + and - and SEL + and -, no combination seems to get me to anything other than this menu.

Tried the RECALL option, issue still remains..

Maybe a part went bad.

Connecting the laptop does this..

I should also add... this was a $40 craigslist purchase, sold because it stopped syncing.

9400 only goes up to 800 by 600 so move your resolution down on the laptop and try again re connect and try again

no go on the 800 x 600, i can see the desktop but it's rolling and no signal still present. maybe one of the ICs went?

I would start by trouble shooting the sync/ip board. that board has two IC chips HD74LS86P. Check your diodes and capacitors there. There also should be 3 jumpers there so make sure one did not fall off or is missing.

found a broken trace that appears to be previously repaired (jumper wire) and all of the jumpers are in place.

Resolution set to 800 x 600
OSD appears fine when using a JAMMA board as the input...but the top of the screen is curled like the images above.

Anyone seen this before?

Can you put the board in another chassis to test it?

Over a year later....

Anyone know a source of a replacement sync board? I've had no luck with this thing.

Why whats bad on the board?
Can you take a picture of the board
component side up?
And a good picture of the chassis so i can
view the top of the chassis.

No reason not to fix the board.
Unless the bad part is NLA
Are all the caps in the chassis OEM?
If so then you need to do a cap kit first.
Its never a waste of time to put new caps in it.
atleast once in its lifetime.I would not put a cap kit
in it each time it has a problem.
There are caps on the chassis that could do it.

So...anyone ever run into anything similar?

You might try tracing it down with a O-Scope

at the sync I/p Board in and out good?

If your skillset isn't up to par then send it out for repair

to wellsgardner or send the symptoms

via email jpruski(at)wellsgardner(dot)com

And see what he say's.

If all the caps
were replaced. Check Hs505 3 pin reg does have the correct output 12vs
Confirm your 5.1 voltages is good on your sync board.
Good Luck!
