Wells Gardner 4600 White screen only (black out pot?)

Hey guys. Been trouble shooting my WG4600 and all im getting is a blank white screen and game plays blind. It was a full black screen when i got it but after cranking up the blackout pot all the way up i get nothing but a white screen. Where can i find just this part at and is this a common problem with these? Also i notice the pot almost has to be cranked all the way up to get any picture at all. Its like only 10 percent of the turn gives me a white screen and the other 90 percent does nothing but give me a black screen? Do i test this thing like a resistor? also anyone know the value. thanks!

No, but it should be silkscreened on one side (probably the parts side).

Yes, you can test it like a resistor. Meter on the opposite ends to get the total resistance, meter on an end and the middle while turning to see how responsive it is.

Has this been capped yet?

edit: never mind, looked at the photos. You need to cap this.

Vidio

You might not be getting a video signal from the board. It sounds like the pot is doing something. If you have another working monitor or game you can plug the vidio cable in to, try that to eliminate the board and wiring. Also the x y daughter cards could be loose causiny the no video issue. Much past that, you need to do a cap kit before you start diagnosing anything else on the monitor.

ok yea the caps all looked good visually but i know rule number 1, never go by a visual inspection lol.

pm sent peale on a cap kit for this, and some other stuff. you can ship it with my CAO chassis you have.

That monitor definitely needs a capkit and be sure to get a kit that includes a new black level pot. Zanen Electronics always include one in their capkits for the 4600 series monitors.

Ill bump this since i cant sell it complete and i might as well try and identify the problem. Did a full cap kit (all caps even the one BR dont include with his kit.) still same problem, just white raster. And i can hear the game making noise.

i haveent replaced the black out pot yet but wouldnt i just get a black screen if that was the culprit. It had a black screen when i got it, and when cranked up the black level pot it just gives me a white screen, so it seems like it works somewhat. any other ideas?

Ken, do you have a Mouser number on the pot to replace? I got one, thought it was correct, and it's the wrong footprint. Got another, same thing.

yea any links on the correct pot to order???. im still very new to tracking down correct parts for certain things lol.

It's got a weird footprint - it's very wide. I've got pots of the right value, but the feet won't fit in the holes without modifying something.
