I would like to start by saying this is the first monitor I've worked on and I've learned a few lessons already. The main one is not to do a cap kit and a flyback replacement at the same time. It makes it harder to troubleshoot. Before I did the repair the monitor was showing a white ghosted image of the game. It also had lines through it. My buddy thought it was a flyback and said while you are at it do the cap kit. So now I have no game image and when it comes on it goes white then it moves around a bit and the a white column comes down form the top to the center and then it goes blank. Any advice?

It sounds like before you did the cap kit the only problem you had was the "screen" control turned up too high resulting in retrace and the overpowering white.

Your new symptoms don't sound familiar. Are you saying the entire screen is white? After it is on the white raster moves around followed by blanking out with the exception of a white column that only crosses half of the screen before disappearing?

Here is a link to the video. I tried accessing the on-screen menu. I hear a click like it's trying to go to the menu but it never comes up. I took the board out to examine it to make sure all of the solder joints looked good and they did. I put it back in and it is still doing the same thing. All of the board was marked for the negative side of the caps with the exception of 2. I was told that if you put a cap it backwards it would pop. No popping or hissing. Everything seems good. When I first hooked it up it was a blank screen. My buddy told me to turn up the brightness on the flyback. After I did that it started doing what is on the video.

Those caps that didn't have a "negative side" marked may have been bipolar caps. If so, and if you replaced them with polarized caps, that may explain some issues with it working. ..

It was the was the board that wasn't marked. I went though the pile of caps that I took out and all of them had the negative side marked. Any other thoughts?
