Newer replacement flyback. Now the flyback has a hole in the side and it is arcing to the chassis.

Can I epoxy or somehow cover the hole or do I have to replace the whole flyback?
Kinda sad as this one probably only has max use of 10 hours.

you just tell Peter it's defective and he sends you a new one... permitting it was purchased recently and not like 2 years ago.

I bought the refurbished chassis from a Klover.
I had the box sitting for a little while so not sure how recent it was.

dude why...

also yeah, you're probably hosed on the flyback. I guess buy a new one then. those and the G07 ones can be hit or miss. it's why I discourage just blindly replacing working K7000 flybacks, but G07s always replace if you're changing the caps for the first time and it's original part.

Edited this---I want to only say nice things if I can control myself.

You can try to silicone it around where the crack is. I've been told to have it AT LEAST 1/4in think.

I am beginning to wonder if the casing of the "bad" flybacks is beginning to crack over time, if you leave them in a hot garage. I have destroyed about 4-5 bowling balls doing the same thing.

Respectfully, I don't recommend trying to seal a HV leak with Silicone. Corona dope is a more appropriate compound.

That being said, I still don't recommend it if the flyback is readily available and almost as cheap as a bottle of corona dope.

I've only used it in cases where a leak was minor and the flyback was not available. Just order a new one from arcadepartsandrepair and hurry as the prices are going up.

Well, that's one way to beat a 7-10 split.

New flyback installed and no more arcing or sparks.

Man those pins on the new flyback were out of line. Took forever to line up the pins to the holes. A chunk was broke off the Focus knob, but it works fine.

On to the next project.
