Ok here we go again the 6100 wells in my star wars has no picture on the complete right side! Left side is fine, I'm assumming I lost. A chasis transistor, don't know if I lost a combination of vertical and horizontal or just horizontal? Which chasis transistors should I cange and how do I test them to detimine which ones are bad? Any help would be great!

It could just be a cold solder joint on the header to the chassis mount transistor too. Check J700. I can't remember which direction is plus/minus. I'm guessing it is pin 1,3,4 or Q705, but I will have to check my repair log to be sure. Anyway, easy enough for you to test both transistors with your meter by just unplugging P700 from J700 and using the diode test feature on the pins on P700.

Here are the pins and expected results for testing the transistors.

NPN (2N3716) Test on connector at Pin positions 1, 3, 4 of J100, J600, J700
===========================================================================

Test #1

Red -> Pin 3
Black -> Pin 4

Result: .45v to .9v

Test #2
-------------------
Red -> Pin 3
Black -> Pin 1

Result: .45v to .9v

Test #3
-------------------
Red -> Pin 4
Black -> Pin 3

Result: Open

Test #4
-------------------
Red -> Pin 1
Black -> Pin 3

Result: Open

Test #5
-------------------
Red -> Pin 1
Black -> Pin 4

Test #6
-------------------
Red -> Pin 4
Black -> Pin 1

PNP (2N3792) Test on connector at Pin positions 5, 6, 7 of J100, J600, J700
===========================================================================

Test #1
-------------------
Red -> Pin 6
Black -> Pin 5

Result: Open

Test #2
-------------------
Red -> Pin 6
Black -> Pin 7

Red -> Pin 7
Black -> Pin 6

Result: .45v to .9v

Test #5

Red -> Pin 7
Black -> Pin 5

Result: Open

Test #6

You may have lost one of your frame-mount transistors, or you could have a cold solder joint on the deflection board where the connector from those transistors mounts.

Also, it is not uncommon for the wires that attach to the transistor sockets to come loose...

You guys rock I'm pretty sure if I lost a transistor its Q705 I'm gonna check for cold or broken solder joints, and test the transistor and hopefully get the right side of my screen back, thanks again and ill keep u posted.

Other problems on the deflection board can cause it, but these are the primary problems. If this all tests good, they we just need to go deeper into the X deflection circuit which really isn't that many components.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the values. Saved me about 30 minutes having to figure them out. Will print this out for later.

Just wanted to say thank you! 3 bad chasis transitors! Changed them out and the Star Wars cockpit lives again! Thanks again for all your help guys.
