Just got a cap rebuild kit from arcade shop...and it has a 47 @ 250 for C313, but the cap on the board was 100 @ 160. I'm thinking that I should stick to the 100 @ 160, any thoughts?

You would be wrong in your thinking. C313 calls for a 47uF 160v, and the 47uF 250v provided will work fine.

So either:

1) in the past someone swapped out that cap, and it was the wrong cap, or

2) you grabbed the wrong cap, or

3) it was wrong from the factory.

Ok, I would have agreed, but this thread says C313 is 100 at 160V
http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=91824
and this manual says the same...
http://www.basementarcade.com/arcade/library/manuals/m/atariwg19k4914.pdf

I put the question out there because I know people have made modifications to the cap sets over time to get rid screen curl, etc. on some monitors...

The monitor seems to be working, I was tossing a 60 in 1 in and it has some curl on the left side of the screen, something that is not atypical for those boards from time to time as I have found....

So sorry to dig up this old thread -- but appears I have the early version as I have 3 changes with C308,C313 and C301 from the 4900 cap kit I got vs the earlier version

Do I need the original values or is this an upgrade to swap them to the 4900 values?

or is that a bad idea?

Was doing a cap kit on a 4900. I found a bunch of info, but no info from BoB. So I thought I would post what he sent back to me for people in the future.

Hello Mr. Roberts.
I have used a few of your 4900 cap kits in the past. I was doing a cap
kit on a 4900 I have. At location C313 you have a 100uf 160v for your kit.
I had a 47uf 160v in that location on my monitor. Is that the way they were
built? Also I noticed at c308 you replaced it with a 2.2uf 50v. The
cap. I had was a 3.3uf 50v. I know you have a bunch to do, but I thought I
would ask.

"The reason that the replacement sheet comes with the cap kit is to
straighten out all the errors over the years of service & take care of any
field upgrades. Always go by that sheet & disregard anything on the chassis."
