Before I go much further I figured I would ask some questions. In sort I have a 25K7184 in a 2 Slot NeoGeo. This is the monitor with the "Black Block" hanging off the anode. Cap-ed the monitor a little while ago and had it running with a great picture. While it was apart I touched up every connector as well as anything that even seemed odd. I have actually played the snot out of it in short bursts. I noticed during a recent get together that the focus started to get soft. That was the longest I have had it running continuously. So, seeing that as a sign of a bad flyback I replaced it (not splicing the block back in). Came up, looked great...but the image will bloom or pulse if there is something going on that involves something "bright", like an explosion, or if the image changes from a dark to light background. If you have ever seen the attract for Metal Slug, when the Mini-Gun fires...the image pules with the explosions a good 3/4" to 1" on all sides.
After a talk with one of the local guys I swapped in a second new flyback to make sure the first new one was not bad out of the box. Same thing...but they were dated the same.
HV is dead solid at 22K and the B+ is locked on at 130v. Those surprised me as I was 1/2 expecting it to see them fluctuate.

Anyone else ran in to this?

did you replace the filter cap??

that can cause blooming issues if it is bad/going bad.

and did you balance all the colors on the neck board then set your contrast and brightness correctly. this process takes a wile to do but it pays off in the end.

also get your tube checked with a rejuvinator to be sure.

Peace

No, that one was not replaced. It had not come to mind actually as it did not have the problem prior to the flyback swap. I will check it out.

The way you ask that I am lead to believe there is a "correct" procedure?? In the past I have dialed them, including this monitor, in to taste and not had a problem. I will go back and see what's in the manual.

Already covered that when I went through it a few weeks back. It's good to go.
