I have been struggling with a Wells K7203 for a while now and looking for some help. Here is what I have done. New Flyback, Hot, Filter cap 220uf 400v cap, Q002 2SK2645 several times. Followed the Wells Trouble shooting guide checked all on that list except T501 EI-19. I do not have one to compare it to but I have a couple of Ohms primary and secondary.

On start-up it will chirp a few times, Blow the fuse and takes out Q002 with it.
Date on the monitor is 2005 so I was hesitant to go with a full cap kit but will be ordering one next. I was wondering if anyone has had the same or similar problems? Other possible things to check/order. Drop kicking it off the deck is not an option, but I have felt like it...

i had a similar chassis doing what your's is doing.

check all the poly caps by the H.O.T. on mine C600 was shorted.

and check the 5 banded resisters on the opposite side of the heatsink.
one was open but i cannot remember the part location of it but it was within one inch of the H.O.T.

Thanks Buffet!
I did check both C600 and C601. C600 looked a little out of range when I tested, so I ordered and replaced it with 560pF 2K Volt cap from mouser. When I got it, I compared the old and new they tested the same. I will start hitting the resistors tonight as time permits.

On another note it looks like you still have power, that's good to hear. Hope all is well with you. We are waiting to hear from relatives in Ocean City. Yep they chose to stay there... yikes!

yea i wish i could remember the resistor location.
the chassis was for a customer and it was the only one i have done of that series.

does yours have the switch to change the resolution?
if it does it was the resistor that one of the wires from the switch soldered to.

also if you have not fully capped it do so the caps on those chassis are crap.

and just wind and rain here no power outage.

This one does have the switch for resolution and right where the wires go into the board... A great big slop of the white stuff... wouldn't surprise me if a resistor overheated under there.
When I had to do C502 I was wondering why... Usually that filter cap is good. So it lead me to believe that a cap kit was probably going to happen. I hope to find an open resistor tonight.
Thanks for your Help I'll keep this posting up to date so we both remember what it ends up being ..
Glad to hear everything is good there too.

i do believe that is the resistor i am referring to.

yes a cap kit is a must i would do it for sure.

make your own list and i can put together a HQ cap kit for you.
none of the lists on line are totally complete.

I have a thread here somewhere about fixing the PS section of a 7201, which is similar enough that it may help..m
