Well, time to spill the beans on my latest pickup..
Well, here's the story. I have been watching a auction site I frequent for arcade games for the past few months. I scored a Radikal Bikers pretty close to home a few months ago for $90, and so I keep an eye out since. For the last 2 weeks, I have been watching an auction for a Robotron 2084 that looked really nice. The title mentioned it was "tempermental", had a taped cord, and had pics of a black line running through the monitor. Even still, this thing looked exceptionally nice. Come day of the auction, it still had no bids on it. I put a $25 max bid, and waited until the live/internet auction began, listening over the internet for 3 1/2 hours while getting ready for my SuperBowl party.
Auction finally gets to the Robotron, and they ignore my $25 bid and try to get it started at $100. No Bites... Auctioneer asks for $50. Still no bites... Auctioneer takes my $25 bid.. Going Once, Twice.... SOLD!
I scored a fully restored Robotron 2084 for $27.50 (10% auction premium), plus $100 in gas to pick it up 2 states away. The monitor issue went away after a monitor adjustment. All she needs is a new power cord. Unreal...
