Well I just picked up my first "Ninty"...?
...depending on what "ninty" really means.
Saw a CL ad today for a "arcade machine mario bros - $100." Ad copy said "needs minor work. does turn on and play .call kirk at XXX-XXX-XXXX."
Saw it about 20 minutes after posting. Thought... "Hmmm... Might still have a shot."
Beat feet down there, met the guy (Nice guy, BTW) and inspected. It was outside, which scared me, but he said he just put it out there since he was selling it. No water damage. Looked like a generic Nin cab by the sideart, had a gun holster and 2up controls. So not sure what it was converted from. Plays Super Mario Bros. (I didn't know that there ever was a SMB arcade game. Crazy) and monitor is fuzzy and discolored, but does technically run, and some of the buttons/cherry switches are broken. Fiddled with a broken switch on one of the joysticks (I know, shouldn't do that when buying) but I didn't know if it was PCB or controls. Got that switch to work after a little meddling, so that inspired me to purchase. (It's a good deal for $100 anyway, I know)
Got my first Nintendo. Excited.
Next, to remove coin door and see if there's any loot. It jingled a little, guy didn't have keys. Keeping fingers crossed. I can see the backside of the coindoor, just need to remove the lock. I'll do that tomorrow, it's kinda cold out right now.
Woot! Pics in a few minutes. Someone else called right after me - who was it?
This guy was cool and didn't pull bidding wars, glad for that...
