Welcome to SlikkNikk's Arcade!

@SlikkNikk I'm concerned about the lack of spiders, mice and the odd possum living in one of your cabinets. It's all far too clean and well looked after for an arcade. Remember arcades are supposed to promote delinquent behavior, drugs and naughty language.

I'm sure I'll get plenty of that next time I visit you!

I also think it's really cool that I get to hang out online with so many Californians!

Seriously, I really like your gameroom. Really clean and the high ceiling is nice to keep the space from feeling cramped. Looks like a great place to hang out!

Looks great!
I really dig the wood floor, that looks so much nicer than those glow-in-the-dark carpets that everybody seems so keen on... 😖🙃

Is that a Wackoff or a Whackoff you have in there?
So this is Wacko - At one of the Grinkfests there was a Wacko tournament dubbed "Wackoff" like Kong Off etc.
This Old Game did a limited run of marquees to go along with the tournament and I bought one - here you see it displayed on my game.
I suck at the game - wish I was better! I've seen some folks do really well at Wacko ( @34k )

I especially love that Akkanow!! Looks dedicated! ❤️
Thank you! After going through many different Arkanoids over the last 20 years, I've finally found one that works for me.
I also think it looks dedicated - this is a Qix cab that was converted. I think it has the right art package as well.
Best of all, it plays all 3 Ark games - Arkanoid, Tournament Arkanoid and Revenge of Doh via a switcher.
In addition, on the Arkanoid board I've installed the multi game and high score save kit - so you get Ark and Tournament both with high score saves on one board.
It's a neat cab with tons of replay value. Now if I could find a way to reliably light the marquee - those little bulbs on these cabs keep burning out!

I appreciate the compliments! I've resisted going with blacklight carpet because it may take away from the bright, airy vibe I currently have going. However, I've seen some that are very well done in darker settings - @fatherpain has one of the better setups I've seen in person recently - @jow has a beautiful blacklight carpet vibe as well.

I think Garages work well for blacklights since they're naturally darker :)

My son and arcade partner in crime @SlikkJ getting ready to move away for college next week. He was born in this house and has been playing these games since he was very little -first on a high chair, then standing on a crate. Time flies! He's enjoyed this hobby from a player's perspective. I've enjoyed it as a collector, fixer, restorer and as a custodian of these working art pieces.

This weekend's project: I've been meaning to address this Street Fighter 2 machine for some time now. The monitor is tired at this point. It's been rejuved a couple of times before and displays a really dim, yellowed picture. I sourced a replacement monitor and will give this one to a local KLOV contact to perhaps find a new tube.

Began the work to move out the furniture in the middle, then pull out the three games necessary to get access to the SF machine. This is a Z-back and access can be pretty limited on some of these. Thankfully this one had a good sized access door to unplug the cables.

Meanwhile, replacement waiting to go in:

Pulled out the old, got the new one in there and looking much better!

Cleaned out behind the pulled games and got everything back in place. Project complete!

Awesome space and collection. The pictures of your son "growing up" in the arcade are special and just another reminder for us old guys of "where did all that time go???" I'm sure he'll have a greater appreciation of the environment he grew up in as he grows older.

Rejuving is something that only sinister people do to games that they're selling, it's not something that should ever be done to a monitor that you're planning to keep.

Revamping a hallway that's adjacent to the arcade this week. It had beige paint with some super hero art. We are moving to black paint with arcade related art. Here's the first look - 3 large 27x40 Atari posters already in. Still need to dial in the lighting. Any other posters I should be considering? Feel free to share your posters/art here so I can get some ideas.
