Tonight we were talking about some of the old stores that were around back when I was a kid. There used to be this old hunting/fishing store that had a Shinobi game in. I used to play it a couple of times when my grandfather would go down to buy stuff.

I saw a Pole Position II in this small Mom & Pop's general store in a backwoods town in 1999. Apparently it'd been there for a long time, according to my friend who was from that town. What struck me as odd about it wasn't so much that there was an arcade machine in a general store (something that was common in the '80s), but that it was an old game by that time; that it was still working (odd for a PPII); and that it was in a store so out of the way that you could've stepped out back to go deer hunting.

I remember playing the hell out of a working Centipede while I was camping one week, it was in the campground's general store. Been wanting one ever since.

I just remembered this one. Last year at a yard sale, I saw what looked to be some type of Kiosk or something with the Ace hardware logo's on it, looked like it was built from an old arcade cabinet.

Games in the 80s used to be everywhere..

Saw ones at dry cleaners, small gas stations... almost every food place and quickie mart. Every 7-11 or Circle K

First time I played Star Wars vector game was at a Safeway grocery store!! =)

Just picked up a random game on Steam, cuz it had "arcade" in it, and it's epic beyond all dreams. the coders A+, the visuals A+, the storyline A+, the 1980's synth music A+, gameplay A+, design A+, amazeballs!

ok i didn't even realize they themed up several arcades in 5 year increments...

someone who designed this game was really really into arcade games intimately...

the attention to detail is insane!

there is nothing wrong with bump an old thread at least imho the games we are all talking about are much older anyway :50:
there was no "weird" place for games to be though it was a new thing and there was money to be made, so just about anywhere and everywhere was fair game! :50:

Educate me about Steam. Is this game free, if not, how much?

have you lived under a pet rock for the last 20+ years?

Steam is an videogame repository for PC's. you buy 10s of 1000s of millions of games on their platform and play them...

...and inside this game, you can actually go INSIDE the videogames! here's one of PURRPURRBOY:
