Had a weak right flipper on a T2. I noticed that the cabinet switch and the End of Stroke switch would put up a good blue spark each time the flipper was activated. Found that the EOS capacitor wire was broken. So, I soldered in new cabinet flipper contact switches, flipper coils, capacitors and EOS switches. Put it all back together and the flippers are very strong, however, I ran into two problems.

1. The right flipper bat does not stay secure with the flipper pawl under the playfield. I tried tightening the pawl bolt as far as it would go and the flipper still changes positions when I flip the flipper back and forth. I put the old pawl back in and clamped it to the flipper post and the old one stays put, but not the new one. Weird! These are new old style Williams from Marco.

2. This one kills me!!! When the game is over, neither flipper buttons should do anything, correct?!!! This keeps kids from coming up and wearing your flippers out without putting any money in the machine. Well, my right flipper continues to fire even when the game is over. The left flipper does not. When I raise the playfield, neither side with activate (just as it should), but when I lay the playfield back down, the right flipper will activate when the flipper button is pushed. So.....putting the playfield in the down position allows something to get a ground, but why does the right flipper work?
I checked for loose connections and anything under the playfield touching the cabinet. All looks good. I may try swapping the driver board out to see if the issue continues.
Lastly, when the playfield is up or down, and the game is in service mode, both flippers will activate with the switch, just as they should.

Any ideas?

Thanks.........Clay

Well as far as the flippers being able to be activated by the side buttons when not in a game i believe i had a similar problem on my data east back to the future and it ended up being a bad (resistor?) on the main board. I had my tech buddy do it so im not exactly sure but that was the gist of it...
