I just bought a Star Wars Arcade Racer and the monitor when first turned on is pretty sharp and in focus. Almost immediately the picture slowly starts to stretch and overscan... after a few minutes it is stretched so bad the words are cut off and get out of focus around the edges...any ideas on what is causing this issue and anyone know how to fix it? Thanks!

probably looking at a capacitor issue. generally when we get new games in, I cap the monitors on them... cause I don't know the history behind that stuff.

wound up costing me in one case where I DIDN'T cap it cause I was told Chad at Arcadecup did it. that one went a little kaboom...

any idea what kind of monitor you got in there though? look for labels around the big monitor chassis board, ignore the ones that may be on the tube.

all else fails, I don't know the cabinet design on those, but you may be able to just take a picture of it and post it too.

In two years you still haven't posted pics or monitor info :) start there. Also does the image just stretch horizontally, vertically, or both after the monitor warms up?

It stretches horizontally only. It also looses focus around the borders...could this be a bad flyback or HOT or both?

I wouldn't guess fly for stretching images? I know there is resistors that handle vertical height that can go bad but if you would POST what freaking monitor you have I can help search through some monitor repairs for you to see what to test. Help me help you :)

So after looking through many more posts I am back to thinking the flyback is bad. I kept seeing talk of drifting screen and loosing focus around edges of screen equals bad flyback. Anyone care to chime in on this? Gonna replace it either way, just curious what you guys think.

Did you ask the guy on that site I posted, he's the guru for those monitors. Pretty friendly and helpful from what everyone who has contacted him has said about him.
