Gentlemen,

I bought a game with a K7000 in it. It would blow the chassis fuse as soon as I turned it on. I took the chassis out to resolder some spots and saw that the flyback was shot. I replaced the flyback, and went ahead and did a cap kit on it, and put a new HOT on it since I had one laying around. Now, when I turn it on, I can hear the high voltage for about a second and a half, and then nothing. It is not blowing the fuse, just shutting off. I can turn the machine off and turn it back on and the same thing happens. I am using a test cabinet with a fuctional power supply.

Another weird thing. During that one and a half second of power, electricity arcs all along the back of the tube. It looked like it was originating from yoke wires. The monitor is grounded.

Let me know what you think, and thanks in advance.

your b+ voltage is rising to high and is shutting off so it doesn't burn up the chassis is what it sounds like. It could be the voltage regulator, but probably not your issue. I'd look for a problem in the horizontal section being more likely.

Turn down the HT/B+ pot and try again, adjust with a meter if it now runs.
You did reconnect that black wire going from the neck board to the tube ground braid, right ???

Yes I did. I actually tried everyone's suggestions and I appreciate them all. Problem ended up being a bad voltage regulator. Runs great now, thanks guys, you are the best.
