i just installed this i think old old version of a k7000 chassis and monitor into my mk2 cabinet, the picture shows up, however it looks awful. first of all from my pictures you can see what appears to be a flat line at about an inch and a half off the bottom of the screen. it will not go away, ive adjusted all of the potentiometers on the chassis, and the hold seems to affect it a bit, once the screen has filled out completely, it just scrolls up and down and will not stop unless its put back into that nasty position. this chassis has no satalite board, all the adjusters on on the chassis itself. the flyback has the infamous white knobs, and there is some hard glue like substance on the focus knob on the flyback. also the screen seems to shake in the corners, and it looks almost turned at an angle a bit on the right, as if the tube itself isnt straight. could this be just a simple flyback install? is there a particular cap that once it goes bad makes it impossible to get rid of that flat line untill repaired? any help or advice would be much appreciated. i have included some pics of my problem at the bottem.

thank you

I can't see your pics. just to clarify, you used another 25" K7000 on this right? I'm assuming so, based on the different neckboard types and whatever..

your line issue could potentially be fixed with a cap kit, but I can't tell without seeing it. there's a likelihood you have a plethora of cold solder on that chassis that would probably need going over to be certain.

your crooked picture is most likely caused by your yoke being crooked, or you have a pincushion issue, once again, can't tell without pics. yokes aren't for the faint of heart though... they're harmless to touch, but the coils around them freak me out. you're also talking about an MK cab here, so you'd have to pull the monitor to even consider doing that. lol

there's a 50/60 Hz pot on the chassis, lots of people insist that's the cure-all for the jittery pictures, especially if it bows at the top. I'd wait for a K7000 expert to comment on that though before messing with it.

your white knob flyback will work, but it can die at any time. and the results can be catastrophic, cause it doesn't blow the fuse, it keeps running, and it wipes out over $40 worth of parts, or you could've done a flyback/cap kit from Bob for like.... $27?

the glue on the focus knob was done at the factory, you can break it off with a pair of pliers or something.

did I miss anything? lol

That is called "foldover" and can typically be fixed with a cap kit.

You can try adjusting the 50/60 Hz pot to see if that helps...

order the flyback and cap kit from Bob.

it'll look beautiful when you're done with the surgery. ;)

even a soldering novice could do those, btw, the real trick with the K7000 is scraping all the damn cap glue off to see which cap location you're at.

let me know if you're gonna be installing those yourself or if someone's gonna do it for you.

Im actually supposed to take these chassis to a guy who said he can knock out all 3 of mine at once, so wish me luck on that. I cant wait to have my monitors back! All 4 mks with 3 dead monitors...... Its so depressing to see them like that.....

Thanks all for the help and advise ill be sure to post the results
