weird conversion: Space Duel to Pac-Land

Weird conversion...

I saw that one too!

I own a Space Duel even, but didn't notice. I was just thinking damn that is fugly...

I wonder what else is going on with that one?....

I'm going to send an e-mail and find out - the control panel doesn't even have a joystick either, WTF !!!!

I realize that they left the original button configuration but talk about overkill. Game only needs 3 buttons, IIRC. I've only encountered one Pac Land. It happened to be in a Professor Pac cabinet and a well done conversion. Game wasn't very fun.

I emailed about it a week ago, no response.

I was hoping to weasel them down and hoping to find a vector monitor in there. :)

Neither did Pac Land ;)

Your right - for some reason I was thinking pac-mania!

I never played pac-land, actually. If I don't get this one I will need to try out at this years CAX if they have one.....

Tron Guy - I was thinking the same exact thing about the vector monitor!!

Actually, ALL paclands were in professor pac cabinets. If you look at a pacland you will see where the cabinet was made for the professor pac wrap around marquee. The game didnt sell good so they repurposed the cabs for the paclands.

Yup, I remember the story. Midway thought that trivia was the next big thing and boy were they wrong! The way I heard it, only some 400 units made it to distributors and most of them were sent back.

From the serial numbers I have seen 400 is probably an accurate number. I doubt there are more than a couple dozen left.
