I have built 3 or 4 multis and all have been on Freeplay. I built one for a friend and she wants it on coins. So, I wired the coin door to only have coin1, coin2, +5 (coin door lights) and ground. All works fine. Go to the test menu on the board and at the end where the switch test is, coin1 and coin2 work perfect. When inserting a coin or just triggering the switch, no matter if it is coin1 or 2, it gives a coinjam1 or coinjam2 error that just flashes and does not go further. I have only seen this posted once and it was a stuck test switch input. I don't have that wired up on this door. I checked my own multi, different board in a scramble cab. Same wiring: coin1, 2, +5, ground. Same issue. Gives me a coinjam if I set it to coin play and credit the game. I put the board in my MK3 and it works fine. I'm very confused. Only thing different is my MK3 has a fully wired coindoor. Should I "have to" wire the test or slam switches in the door?

Thanks for any insights.

On a different note, with the board in the MK3, I coin it up and that annoying music plays even though I have it set to off in the settings? Is that just something that coin play does?

Try different coin drop switches... if they are on too long you'll get that message.

Also, sometimes the coin switches have a diode across the lugs. If you have that, clip one lead and then make sure your coin wires are connected to the normally open and common lugs.

Also, you may want to disconnect the Coin 2 and just daisy-chain the coin 1 to both coin switches. I tried it like you once (admittedly back when they were 48-in-1's) and if the game is set to 50-cents play (2 coins per credit), then each coin will give a 1/2 credit. But - if you drop one coin in each slot, it doesn't give you 1 credit, but rather 2 half-credits, and won't let you start the game...

Update: I didn't do anything different, but last night I tested my board and a spare new one and both worked fine. Well, only difference was that I had the coindoor shut this time. So, I guess I'll take some spare coin switches to her house and verify all wiring is good and replace em and cross my fingers.

On that other question, is there no way to turn the music off when in coin op mode?

Thanks,

Go into the main menu and turn off the attract music. Then turn off the demo music. That SHOULD do it...
