Wei-Ya M2929DC-62 / bilLABS BL27CA1K Won't take VGA signal from PC

Good morning,

A few years ago I purchased a bilABS BL27CA1Q monitor. To the best of my understanding, it's really a Wei-Ya M2929DC-62 (A link to the review that inspired me to buy it:
http://retroblast.arcadecontrols.com/reviews/weiya.html)

The Jamma input works well [Rastan!] but unfortunately there are a lot of games I do not have the board for and use MAME with, hence the need for VGA input.

The VGA used to work, but now no matter what I try (have tried an ArcadeVGA and an ATI 800XL), I get a "no signal" error. Has anyone experienced this before with a multisync monitor? I've tried resolutions of 800X600 and 640X480. Surprisingly, an XBOX360 [640X480] can display on the monitor perfectly.

A shot in the dark is that the VGA signal from the PC/video card is not strong enough. Is that a possibility? If so, might a signal booster fix the problem?

Thanks for reading.

I've seen this twice before with a multi-sync monitor. One was a D9200 and the other was the Vision Pro copy of it. They would show great pics with the standard-res game, but only a blank or "no signal" screen when using VGA.

As both had on-screen menus, the fix turned out to do a memory recall. I had to hook them up to a standard-res game first to get an image (the menu won't come up during "no signal"), do the recall, then go back to VGA...

Still having trouble

Thanks Modessitt, I tried doing a reset with the Xbox360 plugged in, unfortunately the monitor is still not getting the VGA signal. Is there any possibility that the signal it's getting just isn't strong enough? I really can't figure out the difference between sending an Xbox360 signal to the VGA port (which works great), and sending output from my PC. When I plug it into the PC, I get a sound from the monitor as if it's trying to switch resolutions, then "No signal".

Hmm. Does your remote board have a DOWN UP SEL pushbuttons? if so, try holding DOWN and SEL down at the same time. Some manufacturers have a secret factory menu you can access that way. If you can also, try to do the factory reset there.

It's possible that the res frequency of your PC is something it can't handle....

got it working!

I was finally able to get the monitor working again with VGA input with the PC. It turned out to be the VGA cable itself, the one I was using worked fine with a PC monitor, but not with the Billabs/Wei-Ya. I think that also explains it worked with an XBOX360 (guess it likes the XBOX360 video out cable..)

Thanks for the suggestions, I'm relived to have it working again.
