Hey guys. Looking to get some feedback on a video I made reviewing the aforementioned chassis. I tried to explain everything as best as I could and am interested in if you guys think it's a decent review or not. Don't worry about hurting my feelings or anything. Looking for brutal honesty. That's how I improve.

Thanks!

typically the two sets of yoke pins is so that you don't have to cut your yoke connector.

they are used to reverse/flip the image depending on how your monitor is mounted.

it's kinda like having a dip switch setting on the PCB like on some games.

try it when you hook up a video signal to it you will see what i am trying to explain.

Peace
Buffett

Awesome. Good to know. Thanks!

I enjoyed the review but I think it could have been a little bit shorter. The picture on that looks great, thanks for sharing :)

Nice to see the Neo Geo make an appearance, looks like i have another thing to add to my "Temptation" list

Nice video. This probably what my buddy needs to replace his haunted 7400 chassis. I'm fairly certain the yoke meets the specs.

Do you know if they sell 19" replacements too?

I almost pulled the trigger on this one, but then I googled it and saw lots of negative comments. Now I might look into getting one of these again.

Is this the same chassis that Alva Amusements sells? Something about dirt cheap traders rubs me the wrong way. I think someone here had problems dealing with them with a defective unit.

I've never had problems with them. No, the Alva one is different. It's Wei-ya, but it has a gray PCB where this one has a beige one. I'm not sure on the differences technically speaking but it IS different.

I haven't watched your video yet, but if this the chassis is an Wei-Ya 829HR, good luck!

I bought 3 of them and all 3 have failed within 6 months of use. Big filter capacitor explodes, HOT shorted, and there's a 25w resistor that burns itself of the board, and then crumbles apart.

Nice review man.. People complain and or praise these chassis, but I'd never actually seen how they worked and picture quality.. Seems like an affordable alternative, but please let us know if its still working well in a year.

You should swap the tube while your at it, then you'll have a brand new monitor. I'm a huge fan of tube swaps, almost every game in my collection has one :) 25" tubes are a dime a dozen (35+ in my garage).

Awesome! Im gonna go this route to build a couple monitors from scratch for a couple monitor-less projects of mine.
I'm not real knowledgeable on these aftermarket chassis's, but is there anyway to bulletproof these things? I've read mixed reviews on the reliability of them, but surely there are ways to replace the parts that burn up with some beefier ones.

First, great video.

Second I'm not sure how much of this is your camera being sensitive to light changes or if these chassis still suck at B+ regulation like they did 20+ years ago. You can see what I'm talking about when you start Turf Masters. At that NAZCA title screen when the image becomes more white it shrinks.

Between scene changes and large whites on the screen do you notice any bouncing or blacks becoming grey? While I'm no fan of these chassis I understand the ease that comes with them and would probably replace a Polo with one but nothing else. Almost every other 25" chassis can be fixed easily (I said almost) and I'd rather stick with factory hardware then buy these chinese piles o' poo. Just my opinion, take it with a grain of salt.

One of the guys I used to work with would NEVER fix chassis, K7000's whatever... He always put these chassis on the games. I'd come in behind him with the fixed chassis and put it back!

That Polo tube does look fantastic though.

Well, I'm not sure where to measure the B+ from, so I don't know if it's jumping around or even what it's reading. I assume they are set when they test the chassis, but that's assuming they test them at all.

The only thing I have noticed is that the image is slightly "wavy." I tried an MK2 board in the Neo cab and it's NOT wavy, so I chalked it up to something with the Neo board.

Either way, I am happier with this in there than the original 25" Sharp that was in there before. That one took nearly a minute to fully warm up and display at full brightness. The tube needs rejuvenated. Plus, I don't keep my machines on for hours at end. I turn them on, play them, and turn them off again, so I 'm not too worried about these replacement chassis' burning up.

Thanks.

Is there a model number on this chassis?

For a 25" chassis that requires an isolation transformer, it should be model 825H (all controls are on the main board) or 825HR (has a remote adjust board).

The model 826H is for 27" tubes.

M1092HR

"Suitable from 25" - 29."

Here is the label in the chassis...

And here's what's on the box...

The Neo cab I have it in uses an ISO and I spliced the power wires into the wires for the chassis, so the chassis is using an ISO. I didn't try plugging it into the wall to see if the wavy image goes away. Also, it's only SLIGHTLY wavy. Unnoticeable when playing a game. Only noticeable when the image is still.

"Improvement and development of products is the always GUAL we persue."

WTF? If your going to sell to the states at least get some one to translate correctly...

If they cant put any QC in their box how good do you feel about the product in the box?

OP, I will agree that Sharp is poopoo so this is a lateral move if not a step above.

I haven't heard of those model numbers (429H and 1092HR) and I have no information on them. Judging from the box labeling you posted, it looks like it needs an isolation transformer.
