Hi.

This is a continuation of a post I made on the BYOAC forum, but it's down right now
so I've come here to grovel for some assistance.

Anyway, It started when I ordered the chassis from 8liners.
I didn't have an isolation transformer at the time, but I decided to try
it out anyway.

It worked fine for a couple of hours, but eventually the vertical part of the video
signal collapsed into a single horizontal line running across the center of the tube.

Ken Layton pointed me toward the LA7833 IC.
I replaced it but it didn't fix the problem.

Just this morning, I found a scorch mark on one of the traces on the underside
of the chassis.

It seems like there may have been a jumper running from that trace to
the solder blob that both R803 and D806 are connected to.

I can't be sure of that because I can't find a schematic for this chassis.

Anyone have one that I could take a peek at?

If there was a jumper, you would think it would be connected to at least one of the points.

Well sadly these schematics aren't readily available. Unless you find someone willing to take a look at theirs you're pretty much at the mercy of asking Victor (8liners).
Email him - you might get lucky - I've emailed back and forth with him on a sunday before.

I do have to say I highly doubt there was a jumper /bridge there. What happened to cause th burn mark ..... who knows?!

I guess it was probably just an arc that jumped from the trace to the solder pad.

I messed with it a bit last night.

The horizontal line changes color depending on the most dominant color within
the games attract mode, and I can move the horizontal line up or down with
the vertical position pot.

I've went as far as my experience can take me, so I guess I'll just have to buy
a new chassis.

At least I have an isolation transformer this time.

I'm happy to say that this issue was resolved a few weeks ago by
buying a new chassis.

There is some slight overscan on the right side of the screen but it's acceptable
and hardly noticeable under the tinted glass.

Otherwise, I now have what could pass as a brand new monitor for what should
have been less than $100.00 had I not been so impatient as to try it out without
an iso transformer.

warmachine, did you do a conversion with a TV crt tube? That shot of your screen looks pretty good.
