Going to be diving into pins soon...Ugh, the gameroom addiction mutates...

Curious what the story is with playfield wear...IF you wanted to clean up/touch up a playfield, whats the process...Is there a way to 'touch up' wear?

Thanks

Start reading, because there isn't much of a point of anyone typing up anything in this thread that hasn't been typed up in a much more professional and complete manner thousands of other places.

Anything can be fixed on a pin - what matters is your commitment level and your skill level.

My advice would be to stay away from any pin that has playfield wear unless you really want the pin or get such a good deal that you can't pass on it.

You'll be happier in the long run. Touching up playfields is really difficult, takes a lot of time and skill (matching paint colors). Pin restoration vs. vid restoration are two different animals in my opinion.

But I gotta believe most pins have SOME wear? No?

Most do but many don't have a lot of noticeable wear. Sometimes you just have to live with a bit of wear. It's a lot easier to make the problem worse than better. Unless you're going to invest some substantial time it's not worth doing touch up.
