We just interviewed Geoff Edwards (Starcade) for RetroGamingRoundup

Hey All,

We just wrapped a great 2-hour interview with Geoff Edwards, host of Starcade, for an upcoming RetroGamingRoundup podcast. What a genuinely great guy with tons of great stories to tell about his history in hosting radio and game shows as well as acting. You won't want to miss this one! I think we will be airing it in our September show. And even at 80 he is still a gamer!

Very cool! I always preferred the Geoff hosted episodes of Starcade, he showed genuine enthusiasm for the games.

Kyle

Always liked Mark Richards on Starcade more. He seemed more in tune with the arcade game theme and had what seemed like a genuine enthusiasm. Geoff felt a bit awkward for the configuration, often confused or indifferent (but was good at other game shows like Chain Reaction). The gameshow nerd in me wishes Bill Cullen guest hosted Starcade a few times. He was pretty awesome.

I always loved Geoff. Not just on Starcade, but on Treasure Hunt. As wonder what would have happened if Mark stayed on as Mark just didn't seem interested in the games. But seemed to have had potential in other game shows. He was also the warm-up guy for Jeopardy for a brief time when Alex Trebek came on.

But glad Geoff stayed on as he loved video games and seemed to be a really nice guy. Let us know when the interview comes up so that we may go to it ParrotHead!

I can't believe I used to make this show a priority. Even at 10 years old I knew I could beat most of the dopes they had on... it's like 90% of them ever saw a video game.

Yup, this!

I loved the show as a kid and liked both hosts, but watching the episodes now makes me cringe. Is it just me or does Geoff seem mean to the guests? I think he's trying to be funny and inject some personality, but a lot of it seems to just be harsh.

Don't think he was being harsh. He just is a funny host. That is just him. As if you see him on other game shows besides Starcade. He just seems to have a great personality. Plus, he seems great with the contestants.

Hmm... avidgeek, meet AppleAmusements... AppleAmusements, meet avidgeek.

[awkward...]
I doubt it would be too awkward. He said 90%. That means 10% at least had knowledge or may have actually been good. Unless avidgeek = more then 10% of the players on the show,i think AppleAmusements has an easy out.
