Heh. Stopped in the local parts store to see if they had 2 caps for my pin, 16v 12000MFD. The post title was their reply..

they can't order that? Is it no longer being made or have they just not heard of the internet yet. Pretty sure if someone sells it they can order it if they choose.

$2.67 - Mouser Part #: 539-LP16V12000

Going into a store for some odd part is a huge waste of time. Order it online.

Well it's on my way hm and they have 100 other caps on the wall so i figured what the hell. Dont u guys ever get tired of waiting for mail and paying 10 bux shpng for a cap? What's funny is they cant get the cap i need but they could find 12 brands of CB'S i've never heard of LOL

If you have to wait for parts to do anything, maybe you don't have enough projects! ;)

I loathe shopping locally for game parts other than screws, brackets and other common crap. I'm kind of new to pins, but I'm quickly learning mail order is the only way to go. So much oddball stuff with many companies focusing on specific brands/parts. My last order of pin stuff came from 5 different companies.

I love buying local. Wish I could more. It's convenient and cheaper.

Reminds me of when I needed to get some proprietary cable to test my Pioneer sound system. I looked up the adapter and found out what I needed. I could have bought one from Pioneer Direct for $80, but I decided to stop by Radio Shack. I told him what I needed (with pictures) and he says "They don't make those anymore." Wow really, that sucks!

Ended up finding one on Monoprice for $1.25 xD
Didn't end up working in the end and I ended up tearing the entire thing apart and rebuilding it.

we actually have a local shop which has been around forever, and they have just about every cap or part you could think of. i've gotten random ic's there that would've had to be special ordered from other places. the thing that sucks, though, is that they don't do a ton of business, and the guy that runs/owns it makes up prices on the spot for everything that is for sale, so sometimes you may get a $.50 trim pot, other times it might be a $5 capacitor, or a $20 line filter...

You could go higher on voltage and or capacitance as long as it fits :p

Uhh...NO. You can always go higher on VOLTAGE with capacitors (they'll only charge up to the voltage they are using), but you should always keep the the same capacitance. In some situations you can get away with going higher capacitance, but normally that's a really bad idea, as you are changing the operation of the circuit.
