I'm having my legs and trim parts powder coated for my WCS. The legs were starting to tarnish and small rust spots so I figured "Why Not?". We had some trouble finding a good purple to match the cabinet, so I settled on one that is a "candy" color. This ended up being really cool because there is a little metallic shine to it. I got some bolts back today as a test and they look amazing. Here's a teaser. I should have the remaining parts back this week. There were a couple spots that needed redone.

The color in the pic isn't quite as nice and deep as "in person" but you can see where this is going.

Well I took my purple part home to check against the machine. The color is perfect for the sideart except for one HUGE problem. The type of powder used looks raspberry under the incandescent lighting of my basement. I'm really bummed. I am going to switch powders and go with a more traditional purple to better match the playfield. I did some digging and found the right powder. It sucks that the first color didn't work out because it was SO cool! It looks amazing in the office. I just won't be happy with it and it would bug me forever! It won't cost me much to change now while I have everything off of the cabinet. Oh well. More updates in another week.

It's finally done! The color looks amazing. It matches the playfield perfectly. Just a little off from the sideart but looks great! Looks so much better than the old tarnished and rusty chrome legs. It's hard to photograph purple with my crap camera but you can get the overall look of it. The camera makes the sideart look blue but to the naked eye the colors look almost exactly the same.

That's freakin' awesome. I wish I had the money to have done Pinbot, but it was all way out of my pricerange when I've got real repairs to do on my games. :p

Who am I kidding? It's out of my pricerange until everything else is done on my games. That will be the absolutely last thing to do. :)

Very cool look to the game!! I wonder how well it will hold up

It will hold up great. It is VERY durable. Much more than baked on paint. I work in a metal finishing facility, and although we don't do powder coating I've had the experts verify that this is a great application for it. I have a friend who does this in his own shop and has a very reasonable rate. I picked out my own powder and he did it. Unfortunately the first powder didn't fit this application but he stripped it and it now looks amazing!

I'm going to do my next pin in a few months.

Nice. What color basecoat did you use with the candy purple before you re did it?

I used a Dormant purple color. I am not quite sure of the code. When it went on it looked almost silver until the top clearcoat and bake brought out the color. It was an amazing color, just not for this game. I really wish I had a game that it would match because I loved it! If this didn't need a purple color, I would have stuck with a candy coat because it looks so cool. Hopefully some day I'll get a machine that I could use a candy on. I think a candy blue would look amazing on Tron.
