I've only dealt with Seattle and Vegas boards where there is an obvious power connector for the hard drive. On this Phoenix board, I see the IDE connectors but no power connector.

Would appreciate some advice as I can't find a manual on the net.

The original HD was the killer instinct 2 Seagate HD, a laptop HD that powers through the connector. You can use a regular HD but will need to tap into your power supply for power.

Err? Hang on a second. The ATA-6 connector used by IDE-era 2.5" drives has four extra pins (after a small gap) for carrying power. It's also a different pin pitch so you can't just cut off the end either. So they're not directly compatible; you need adapters to go between the two.

Shou -- does the "IDE" connector on the board have 20 columns (39 pins, and a key), or 22/23 columns (43 pins, a key, and possibly a gap before the last four pins)? Do you have the cable from the original drive?

Let's get this right and not blow something up.

-E- Correction, I wasn't quite remembering right.
