So, this is an extension of my post I made about centering a steering wheel in Daytona. I have a potentiometer in there that seems to not go far enough... as if the pot has a gear that's too small... is there something I can add to this to adjust the radius of reaction? Is there such a thing as a 360 pot and a 280 degree pot? It would seem this is meant for a 360 wheel....

I don't know about the pot specifically in your game, but yes, there are pots with different ranges. They should still return the same values but they will turn less or more to cover that same range.

I ran into this when replacing pots in my spy hunter game. I think I ended up with something like a 340 degree pot in the gas pedal.

that's why it helps to get like a cross reference on the Sega # and the replacement #. Happ has tons of that stuff.

order multiple pots if you must. I swore they were like $40 each but maybe I'm wrong.

I know the part number, and happ DOES sell it.. I'll just get two, just to be safe (I have two machines of this, anyhow).

Thanks guys.

Glad you found what you're looking for.

I should add that I also replaced my pot in my steering wheel and didn't have the nice mouser pot at that time with the wider range. The one in my steering wheel works okay (it didn't hit any stops in the pot) but it's like a 300 degree pot instead of 340 or something like that.

It leaves the steering slightly twitchy and I don't care much for it because the steering is a bit more responsive than I like it. One of these days I'll get around to swapping it with the wider ranged pot.
