So, I was thinking of putting a computer into one of my cabinets. Not a MAME machine, but a development machine to test some of my own indie games inside a cabinet itself.

I was going to use a JPAC to make it as jamma compatible as possible, but I was wondering about power. One of my micro machines uses a 65 watt DC power supply. I was wondering if I could use a standard arcade 115watt power supply to power it. I'm a programmer, and Im only just learning about electronics, so I dont want to risk blowing up a machine because I forgot a resistor somewhere.

Any thoughts?

anyone?

the guys at neo-geo.com said it should work without any modification but I just want to make sure.

It's really going to depend on the power supply in the cabinet you want to use. You need to make sure your arcade power supply gives enough current to power each of the voltages your micro-board requires. The board should have specs for each voltage and the maximum current required.

If you're using like a nano-itx board that needs a 5v only supply, then the arcade supply will need to provide at the very least 13A of power at 5v ( ie. 65watts / 5volts = 13Amps ).
