I have my pins on location at a friends bar in Lower Manhattan and unfortunately most of it was flooded. Luckily the Twilight Zone and The Addams Family are alright but my Funhouse is completely submerged.

Do I have any other options besides throwing it away?

Is it still submerged or was submerged? Either way it would need to be completely stripped and the parts inspected, cleaned, etc. I'm sure the cabinet is trashed and more than likely the playfield is too. If the backbox and playfield did not get soaked, you could see if someone had a cabinet from a resto game or use a different cabinet and put new decals on it. It's going to be a lot of work no matter what.

The honest truth is that it all depends on how long it was wet, how fast it gets dried, and a good dose of luck in what glues were used in the plywood. Worst case, yeah, it's a pile of parts. But I wouldn't give up just yet.

If you have power, get it into a warm room with a dehumidifier. Get the water out as fast as you can. Open it up, have some fans pointed at it, and keep it like that for a week or so.

Completely submerged, up to the headbox? Or just the lower cabinet? Did the playfield get wet? Got a photo that shows the high water mark?

I have salvaged several completely flooded machines over the years.

First thing on a pinball:

Open it up to get some air flowing through it. Take off the playfield glass. Take out the backglass and swing open the insert panel.

Unplug the playfield and get it out of the machine to dry. If the playfield got wet, take every light bulb out of every socket to get the water out and keep the socket from corroding. Unplug every connector to get the water out.

In the backbox, unplug every connector including any on the boards. Remove every light bulb.

Now get a hair dryer and blow some hot air through the machine.

I'd do like Ken said and if the cabinet is a wreck, use the insurance money to get Doug Huse at letsplaypinball.com to build you a new cabinet. You'll be better than new!

if this was surge remember that your talking about salt water as well, so your looking at cleaning the metal before it corrodes as well
