Water 1; Basement Arcade - 0

Don't worry about the pinball coils!! You can dry those out, actually some people put dawn and water in a bucket and soak pinball coils to clean the wrappers. Those will be fine. The rest of that stuff, well that plain ole sucks!

If you have one, a dehumidifier can help to dry things out down there. Less humidity in the air will help everything to dry faster.

store some games for EagleTG and this had me physically sick today.

Man, I told you not to worry about me. You have too much else going on to worry about my stuff. You are doing me a favor by giving me storage! Don't worry about my crapper games!!

I'm glad thing seem better than originally expected. Really sorry about the things you lost (especially the ultra-cool Popaduik stuff). :(

Let me know if you need assistance with anything.

That does suck....I've been through this twice now...once in the basement like your situation...and end of last year when they were putting my 2nd floor addition on..while they had the roof off and had the 2nd floor covered..we got a dam downpour for the ages and it managed to get in my garage as well as portions of my 1st floor and ruined several games of mine before I could get them out...

Your situation is one of the reasons I never finished my basement...there is just too much unknown if one time you get water in there then you get even more costly damage...what I did was have french drains installed in front of basement and got aluminum awnings to cover my back door basement door to prevent water...for the most part it took care of water issues..but anytime your dealing with basement no matter what you do water is always an issue ...

This is why I can't wait to get new building up...above ground..water proofed..properly ventilated...no problems...good luck..I hope the loss is minimal.

I HATE water in the basement. Has happened to me a few times now; nothing too deep. But it always makes me super pissed off.

I have my games on plywood stands; so those have taken the brunt of the water damage, not my games. Those have saved my ass every time. I've never gotten more than an inch, though. I have a floor drain thank God.....

I have the Delta flooring system also, 3 sump pumps on separtate circuits, and a whole house backup generator. I thought that would keep me safe but a couple weeks ago the power went out and the generator didn't come on so my family was bailing water out of the sump crocks so it didn't overflow while I ran to a truckstop gas station and bought a power converter. I had it hooked up to my car in the driveway and ran an extension cord to the basement to run the sump pump until the power came back on. Turned out the battery cable connectors were corroded on my generator and that's why it wouldn't start.

So what happened with you, why did you get all the water?

I am totally paranoid about a water leak in my home, especially since I've been in a home or apartment that had both (a) the hoses to the washer burst and spew water unmercifulness until someone found it (when it started leaking through the floor to the level below) and (b) a water heater core rust through and burst.

In my home now, I always turn off the hoses to the washer (check them on my way out just to make sure) and my water heater is located out in my garage, so a burst there would only flood outside.

On top of that, ALL of my games have Leg levelers and each game has the wood sitting above the carpet.. so if something else bursts, I would be OK as long as it doesn't get too bad.

I could only imagine the heartbreak if I came home to find all of my grails water damaged at the bottom, most of which would be very difficult to replace. It's enough to make me take serious precautions. I've even thought about adding a water detection alarm that would connect to my home alarm and dial up my alarm company, I just need to get the alarm company back out to see if I can add it.

An ounce of prevention... ;)

I live in same area, and was actually working up by where SilverUnicorn lives when it arrived. We had biblical rain on Thursday. So bad that I was driving by a field and I could actually see the band of rain coming across the field but couldn't see through it.

A few short 5-10 minute bursts but enough to push basins and streams right up to flood level in an hour.

Yep, even up this way the rain has been "biblical" this past week. We had very bad thunderstorms and heavy rain 3 or 4 nights in a row and it put the hurtin' on the area. Most of the schools cancelled classes on Thursday because of flooding. :(

Well, the last 2 days have been nice out and I was able to open up the basement windows and bilco door. It seems to be getting there, thought the carpet under the pool table is still wet (and that section of the wood floor by far looks the worst).

The floors took the worst of it so it seems, the joints are wavy and slightly buckled now. This will be the 3rd time they have seen water, so I an actually suprised they made it this far.

Well keep an eye on things. All the machines work and there seems to be no real damage to any games or the pool table from the water, I know it could have been alot worse.

I suppose that's the best you could've hope for? Sucks man- glad it's cleaing up OK. So what's the deal with the water? Looking at the pics, your house seems to be new construction, right? Why is the water coming in? Do you have a french drain?
