Was there ever a Chess Arcade Game developed?

I remember one for consoles but not in the arcade.

EDIT: oh wait one more - The computer in WarGames would play chess with you. :D

If there was, I can't imagine it was very popular, because you could keep playing for an hour on a single credit :)
 
No, because ops would never buy them. They were all about getting as much quarters out of you as they could as fast as they could. Even "timed" chess would take way too long. Sitting at a bar, playing a Megatouch...that's another story.

Really?! What a gyp. I thought I was going to be playing with a geeky computer cyborg version of Grizzly Adams! That's false advertising right there.
 
Seriously though, I know the topic is arcade, but as far as early computer/console chess games go, EA's Archon for the C64 is probably THE classic.
