Was there a Japanese video game that was making people go nuts?

A guy I worked with mentioned something to that effect and I never heard of it. Anyone have a clue what he is refering to?

Never heard of any buy maybe it was an epilepsy thing

It was the game Pokemon sanp for the N64. The dancing yellow critter on the screen caused a few incidents of epileptic seizures in Japan but not the US.

Haha, someone at that page linked my page on Polybius over at my personal website. (Finding the font used for the game's title screen was the nail in the coffin for the 0.001% chance that there might be something there, for me, anyway. Still awesome that arcade games have their own urban legend.)

Don't forget Berzerk. Shortly after the game came out, a perfectly healthy 19 year old died of a massive heart attack playing the game, then a year later, another healthy 18 year old also died of a heart attack while playing Berzerk. think both victims were supposedly putting there initials in the high score list when it happened as well.

There was also an Atari 2600 game or possibly NES that reportedly would cause epileptic seizures in some kids. That prompted the warning labels on the video game boxes.
