was i the only one influenced by the set of "Silver Spoons"?

Darn! You beat me to it!

Off topic: Mark, did you go to Pinfest? Was there for a little on Sat and scored a nice World Cup '94 for a great price. We need to get together soon man! Your gameroom looks awesome!

Back to your originally scheduled thread :)

I remember watching every episode of Silver Spoons (Mr. T was on the first episode). I knew I saw a Tempest on there. I really, really wanted my own arcade game when I was a kid. I remember entering some sweepstakes for a Zaxxon game even though I wasn't a huge Zaxxon fan. I had to wait another 20 years, but yeah, I have a collection larger than what Ricky Stratton had, too.

First, I think I had major wood for the mini train that ran through the house over the games. Second, I think I recall a laser disc game but I was thinking it was Space Ace. I do think they changed them out. Also thought they had a Centipede at one point. The thing to remember about that show was that most of "awesome" toy chest was left to the mind of the viewer. They would talk about the train going through the whole house as well as other cool toys but it was really just that living room and rickys room with a race car bed. At least that's what I recall.

the only centipede i remember was a cabaret. and it wasn't in silver spoons, it was in that "not to be trusted" weirdo's back room of the bike shop in different strokes! that's another arcade sighting that stays with me. i can't look at a centipede cabaret and not think of that creepy episode!!

LOL!!! I remember that episode!! It was a 2 parter....my parents wouldn't let my brother and I watch the follow up episode!! LOL! I remember seeing it years later on a rerun! If I recall correctly, Arnold made it away untouched....poor Dudley wasn't so lucky!!!

"Arnold? Why is that mouse taking her clothes off?!?" Yeah, that was a classic episode. Didnt that dude try to get them in the bathtub? Scary shit being shown in the 80's!

A good shot of the games:

I see here that they moved them around a little.

At :45 in on the second one, you can see Gorf, Asteroids and Tempest. Gorf has a white pinstripe on the inside ... that's kinda different! I also saw a Pac cabaret in one of the shots.

Oh, and Erin Gray is hot!
It's interesting that the games have those little changes to them. Tempest has some kind of kick plate artwork going on. I have to wonder why they bothered to do that, unless that somehow got them around a copyright issue with using the games as set pieces. I seem to recall an episode of Roseanne where they are at the bowling alley and a Tempest machine was there, but with a fake name on the marquee.

Yeah, I was totally influenced by Ricky Schroeder. I never even though it was possible to have an arcade machine in my house before that. It took me a while, but I finally achieved it.

You should have bought them in the late 80's when operators couldn't give the games away.

Same with Dragon's Lair...it's very "blue"... I'm guessing the light from the marquee's bulb did some weird stuff on the film they used?... but that doesn't explain the blueness of the CP. Maybe studio lights playing tricks or something....

Erin Gray!

Did anyone else catch the instrumental version of "There's no Stopping Us" from the movie "Breakin'" playing the background. LOL.
