Was an 8-Ball action, now it's a DK again. DONE. WOot!

Been playing around with this one for the last few months and I am happy it's done.

Started its life as a DK and at some point someone converted it to an 8 ball Action:

So, I converted the PCB back to DK (burned new roms, new Z80, new color proms, also found the sound CPU to be bad), capped the monitor (it had fold over), painted all the black, new t-molding, bought a used bezel, marquee, and CP from a KLOVer, and threw some new side art and instruction stickers on.

I was fortunate enough that original blue sides were pretty darn nice. So, I didn't have to touch them, they really cleaned up nice with some simple green.

Also, I totally messed up the side art on one side. Tons of bubbles. It's ok. :( Then I remembered I bought that spray rapid tac stuff and did the other side using that magical wet formula. WOW!! Works great. Bought it here: http://www.rvinyl.com/application/tools/rapidtac.htm

Work in progress...

Need to get a coin door lock, I'm all out of my 3001s, and also need to paint the CP and get a new under the CPO instruction card. I also need some of those damn CPO bolts. Anyone know a source??

I think I am bringing this one to work. DK is my favorite game, for some reason I wanted a second one. :)

Woke up this morning and went to the garage. I forgot to unplug the DK! ARRGH! I hate when that happens. It was on all night. Stuff like that scares me, that thing hasn't run like that in probably 15 years. When I got it is was in storage for some time. Who knows the last time it was really used.

Did it survive??

Great work by the way!

Always brings a smile to my face to see one back in it's former glory, Job well done sir. :)

John - Did you try the CPO bolts from Mikes Arcade? I just got some for my cabinets and I must say they were functionaly correct but left a little something to be desired cosmetically. I am on the hunt for all the carriage bolts for the cabinet. Coin Door, Coin Mech, and Control Panel. I am looking for accurate cosmetic parts. I need to get the finish defined. I don't think it is a zinc coated fastener. Maybe chrome?

The ones from Mikes are certainly better than rusty ones.

No, I didn't try the ones from Mike. THey are too expensive. I was going to try a local fastenal dealer by me. Let me know if you find anything! I think they are chromed or heavily plated.
