Hey there, I just had to spread the good news, even though this is technically not Coin-Op related.
Fury Unlimited is making a version of Warrior for the Vectrex! I have waited years for someone to do it and from the screen shot and overlay picture this is an absolute must-have.

Now we just need to convince him to do Red Baron and Tail Gunner!

Nice, will this guy release just the file?

Doubtful. None of his other games (Sectis etc) have ever been released online as just a rom file.

Admittedly the price is a bit steep but I have no problem supporting someone doing such a good job. Besides, I would imagine the overlay construction is going to cost some money to make so the price tag, although steep, is reasonable to me.

Besides, I have tried to play Warrior on MAME without the graphic, completely unplayable.

Ya, I bought two of George's (Fury) games (Sectis LE #7 and Continuum) and the quality is great! These last few 'home-brewers' need to be supported.

... but I would still like to play Red Baron ... with a machine gun overlay.

Even though it's twice as much as the others he has, it's still about the same price as any other new release on a console. Plus he indicates that it's a limited run of 100.

ummm i dont know if you have ever played it, but it really isnt that much of a game... ive played the uporight and i really dont see the big deal about the game.. the only thing cool is the artwork of the cab

While I admit the game can seem limited, you need to realize this is the grand daddy of all fighting games. Street Fighter made them cool but Warrior did it back in the 70's!

Also, I have a real fondness for the design of the game as far as overlapping vector images over a diarama of a battle arena. The game really needs that environment to make it enjoyable. Although a flat 2-dimensional version in the form of a Vectrex overlay is not a perfect recreation, it definitely lends something to the experience.

Wouldn't it be cool if someday they made a 3DS-ware version where the actual room was constructed in 3d and your knights hovered magically over the room like the original coin-op?

I'm definitely getting Fury's Vectrex game.

So does he reproduce the overlay and cartridge or does he do the homebrew box too..I know there were some of these made too back 7 or 8 years ago..I have one or two of them...cool looking box sold me to match my other complete vectrex collection..

If Warrior was the grand daddy, what was this?

I want one!!

George the maker just contacted me, these are shipping out this week. I believe he has a few more for sale, he also has a cool War of the Worlds that he made for the Vectrex as well!

I thought Warrior wasn't releasing until August? It may be War of the Worlds that is shipping out this week. Can't wait to get my copy of War of the Worlds. I'm still on the fence about Warrior, but it may be worth it just to have another 2 player game.
