Hi all, I have a chance to pick up a Warp Warp for a pretty good price. I've played it a bit on MAME and wasn't all that impressed -- is it a game that, in its dedicated cabinet, has any value/replay value? How about working PCBs?

EDIT: I don't plan to buy it to try to flip it, but if it's in my collection and I get bored of it, it would be nice to know if I could get at least what I put into it back out. Just trying to get a ballpark idea.

Warp Warp is almost universally considered one of the worst games ever made. it sucks. However, it's kinda cool if you're into uncommon stuff. One of those games that has a lot more cool factor than financial value.

I do like uncommon / quirky stuff, but this game / cab didn't really resonate with me. It seemed cool to me that the 2nd stage was pretty much the genesis of Bomberman, which I _am_ a fan of. Otherwise it just seems like a very very very very very poor man's Berzerk.

What is one worth, complete, working, good shape, original cab? $100? $300?

I remember Warp Warp back in the day.. I pumped a lot of quarters into it because I thought there 'had' to be more to it if I just got a bit further.. sadly I was wrong and have never been able to regain that wasted time all these years later.

A nice looking, complete and working Warp Warp is probably worth around $100 to $200. I personally would not buy one unless it was sub-$100.

It is sub $100 (very sub actualy) but I'm still probably leaning towards passing, because I just don't see the game being fun in my collection for any longer than 10 minutes... so to haul it all the way to my house, down into the basement, and then try to sell it .. meh.

Maybe I should buy it just for the monitor. dunno.

I wouldn't buy it just for the monitor. Heck, there may be someone out there who likes Rock-Ola games or simply a new collector looking for a cheap first game.

I would buy one for $50 if it was nice and working. If it was more, I would pass and let someone else go for it.

It's $50 obo, needs a bit of monitor work (probably just a cap kit or flyback, screen goes blurry). Honestly I'd probably end up wanting to resell it based on what little I played in MAME, and am probably going to just pass.

I like Warp Warp a lot.

There's a strategy that most players don't bother with... if you shoot three regular monsters in a row (the ones that stick their tongues out) that are the same color (yellow, red, or orange), then a bonus monster comes out that is worth 500, 1000, or 2000 points when blasted.

It's a low scoring game if you just shoot the regular monsters in any order, but you can get high scores by planning your shots to take advantage of those bonus monsters.

No, it's not the greatest classic arcade game, but it's nowhere near as bad as it's reputation would have you believe. Kyle

Saw one on ebay go for $1.25. I bought one at a auction for $1 but then again I didn't pay over 7 bucks for any of the games I bought at the auction.

The kid and I play it every once in a while, it's not that bad imho. If nothing else get it and scan the artwork. I'm guessing there isn't much for repo's out there...

I'd grab it if it was < $50 and in nice shape. But I like the weird stuff.
