so i'd like to make a Warp Warp to JAMMA adapter, but i have a few questions...

- since the Warp Warp PCB is like a Pac PCB that takes AC and turns it into DC on board, is it possible to use a standard switcher to power it? the pinout on KLOV states 7VAC and 12VAC like Pac which should make it work hooking up to 5VDC and 12VDC respectively (Mike's Arcade has a nice explanation on the Pac pinout page.) but looking through the manual it seems that it calls for 15VAC and 25VAC. is this too great a difference?

- the can the LOGIC COMMON and COIN COMMON off the Warp Warp PCB be hooked up to the rest of the grounds? the VIDEO GROUND is supposed to be tied into LOGIC COMMON according to the wiring diagram so it would end up being tied to all grounds as well.

I hate to be a debbie downer, but Warp Warp is one of those terrible games no one has and no one collects (in general). I've had two of them and couldn't give them away.

I hope you find someone who knows something about it, but my guess is it will be a total shot in the dark. I doubt anyone has actually repaired one in a long time.

yeah, i know nobody likes it. i picked up two boards really cheap, one not working and one that works but occasionally resets. i have fond memories of the game but not fond enough to track down an entire cabinet.

but anyway, somebody out there should have some knowledge of how the DC voltages supplied by the switcher may or may not work the board that's expecting AC.

I just looked at the manual and it would be pretty simple to bypass the regulator circuits and just supply the required voltages to the board with a switcher. At the very least this would allow for testing of the board. If you are interested in what to remove and jumper I can walk you through it.

As for the grounds, all logic level grounds can be tied together. I wouldn't tie them to the cabinet field ground, though.

and, a "debbie downer"? what decade are you living in anyway? :)

He could be referring to the above character, which debuted in 2004, so it's not that long ago :D (I have no idea how long the actual saying "debbie downer" has been around though)

Warp Warp is very close to the way Pacman used AC. I would personally use a switcher. If you need help with hookimg it up, please pm me. I also have a few spare parts boards I inherited that I raided for pacman parts - you are welcome to them. My very first cabinet was a rockola warp warp and I converted it into a pacman (hey I was a newbie many years ago) by moving some pins around in the connector and adding a switcher so I know that they are close.

Best,

Bill
