*Warning* Always check serial number before smashing a black cabinet

I just picked up about 16 or 17 games yesterday and knew I needed to make room in my storage units for them. I tried to sell whatever I had in my storage units cheap to get the projects out. I wasn't able to do it in time so I had to get another unit and fit what ever I could in the new unit. I was able to fit all but one. So I went to my other units and had tried to rearrange things and it didn't help. So I grab a cabinet out and took it home with me and left it outside overnight because there was no room in my garage nor my basement. I had another one that had to pick up the same day and that one had to stay in my truck overnight. I planned on taking the monitor out of the cab that I brought home from my storage and smashing the cab to take it to the dump until the sun hit the cab this morning and I seen the letters come through the black paint , then read the serial plate DDL201. I got out the paint stripper and went to work. I could not save it all since the paint strip to lifted all the artwork that has was white and some other areas. I think the make new sideart for this machine now, not 100% sure though since I never owned a laser disc machine before and dont know much about them. If anyone wants to buy this or trade me something for it, PM me an offer. Here are more pics http://www.flickr.com/photos/djdns

It was a working Mad Dog game, but the monitor had a bad flyback. I posted the game for sale awhile back and no bits, then I posted all the contents for sale and a few days later someone pm me and said they will take it, so I boxed everything and shipped it out. If I would've known or someone who have pointed out that this was a Dragons Lair cab I would have kept it all intact. I have no knowledge when it comes to Laser games other than they are pricey.

Cabinets are like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to find until you peel that paint. I had a Robotron cabinet (based on the shape) that I started to strip and imagine my surprise when I found RED paint. Once I peeled a little more off, I could see that it was painted with Stargate stencils. The only thing I can think of is that they got to the end of the Stargates, ran out of cabinets and just grabbed some Robotron cabinets (which would have been starting up) and built them out as Stargates. Too bad the dick that painted the sides used a really good quality oil based black paint so there is no way to peel the paint and save the Stargate paint under it. :(

That sucks, just like this citrus stripper I used lifted some of the art and made it impossible to get the black off without ripping and destroying the art underneath. I normally never strip cabs, because I dont have the time, but when I did a little section at the top and seen how good it started looking I had to try to finish it. The cab is actually in good condition and if I was able to save the art it would have been excellent restore for somebody. It still is, but you will have to get some repro art now.

This is the cabinet you sold me all of the American Laser Games parts out of. I see that now in your follow up post. I saw the Drug Wars side art and the missing guns so it fit the bill. If so, good to know everything is getting put to a good use.

Also, is that a Drug Wars marquee? If so, would you sell it? I am still need a marquee.

DJ, don't worry about parting out the DL2 cab with the ALG laserdisc stuff. They are two completely different cabinets so you didn't wreck anything. They were both LD games, but that is where the smiilarities stop. I am sure many people would call the DL2 to Crime Patrol converstion a hellcade in fact. Hopefully someone turns this back into a DL2.
