Warehouse raid invite for Dallas/Houston Central TX area

A non-member who has been frequenting the Dallas area Superauctions for the last 15 years was recently forcibly evicted from a very large warehouse. It is a sad and disgusting tale. Cabinets were loaded into front end loaders and dumped into a field. It took him 17 days to get it all picked up. I won't go into all the details. If you ask the guy, be prepared for a very long tale. You wouldn't believe some of the crap he had to put up with.

But I digress.

The stuff is currently being stored in about 10-15 mini storage units, some car trailers, a backyard, box trucks etc. He is tied up for the next few weeks but is currently thinking he can be in Kaufman, TX on the 6th, 7th and 8th of May to meet with my fellow KLOVrs to sell them all sorts of stuff. He has had this stuff for over 20 years. To give you an idea of the scope of the stuff he has, he has over 64 skeeball units, 15 Namco Shoot Away's (all the screens were broken),BUT he said he has 3 NOS units in his father's closet at home. Love testers, and tons of arcade games. He has parts and more parts and even more parts.

The bad news.....I have no photos right now. He has about 150 photos of the massacre but he will be taking some photos and providing them to me to give you an idea of the scope and scale of what is for sale. I don't think he can run back and forth between locations so it might be best if we could agree on a central location for particular days. He would prefer cash and that you bring trucks, dollies, helpers, straps etc. I don't know how this will turn out for everyone. I have seen nothing BUT I did purchase a couple of Star Wars units from him that he dragged to the last American Amusement auction. I paid a premium for them but think he would be more than willing to deal with anyone that has cash on the spot.

He told me he would love to sell all the skeeball units to one individual. That doesn't mean he has to, he is just ready to unload. He has redemption items etc. I would consider everything to be in non-working condition. He says about a third of the stuff survived the massacre. He told me he has numerous spyhunter sitdowns, a couple of Mach 3 sit downs (one water logged). Change machines and just about anything coin operated. Most of the games will be complete or missing a part or two. He has marquees that survived. I'm hoping he will provide me photos so that we can get this thing going. I know there will be a lot of members trying to horn in on stuff to score the "good stuff". Believe me, there is probably a bunch of it there. He told me there isn't much vector stuff left as they didn't like to work on it. That being said, there is probably some still there. I have no idea what.

Could all of this turn out to be a pile of crap? Perhaps. There could also be a real gold mine there. I have a couple of free days at the beginning of next week. If I can, I will see if I can meet with him down there and get photos of the stuff so you can judge for yourselves. I don't know if he wants $50 a cabinet or $500. I'm sure cash will talk. I personally don't need anything and don't have any free cash but I hate to think this stuff could get dumped. All I ask is for people to be courteous and polite and I will see what I can find out. Stay flexible.
Don't be greedy. That's all.

Kaufman is to the Southeast of Dallas perhaps a 30 minute drive or so.

What I need to know is if anyone is interested in taking a chance and willing to drive out there and dig thru his stuff? He is willing to rent a hotel room for 3 nights in order to meet with people if he can get firm commitments. I cannot promise that I can get the photos. My schedule is changing hourly sometimes.

Anyway, just a show of interest would be great. I realize photos would help so I will do what I can.

mmm mmm mmmm, this oughta be good. Sad story indeed.

I will probably be interested in some things but hopefully there will be some pics so I can see before I go. Hell I may go just to help people haul things back to the Austin area if its needed. I have nothing planed that whole weekend.

I would be interested for sure. PM me if you want me to show.

Ive got a few people wanting me to look for some stuff for them so more than likely I will be there. Let me know if anyone would need help transporting a game or two.

I'm super interested but would have to talk to the Wifey first. A skiball machine would be so much fun to have.

Sounds like Noel may be getting some business ....

ken

PS: That means I may be in. Depends on whether I get dragged into Mother's Day weekend and whether I can drive that far by then.

I can probably come by and get you since I don't think I'll drag the family on this trip.

While this sounds cool, I'd need a better idea of what he expects for pricing before I'd be willing to drive all that way (with gas so high) on just a hope...

The cheaper the prices the more tempting it is to go raiding with a Large truck. If you get a general idea what the guy wants. It might be worth driving for a long distance even from Califorina

im would be in if i had some cash... if i can pull it off i would just come and look at stuff with you guys and lend a hand loading things if it falls on a sat evening or a sunday or monday.

I wonder who the guy is? I remember meeting a really nice guy at SA last August named Ernie who had a crap-ton of stuff that he had bought and stored over the years. That's who came to mind when I read this.

I will probably not be able to make it,even though I'd love to be able to go to just look around and catch up with fellow klovers.
