So I'm picking up a War God's cab tomorrow for a single Benjamin. I've been told that the monitor works, but there is "something wrong" with the game.

I thought the 2 player 6 button cab would make a great MAME. I've always thought War God's was a crappy game, but the cab looks sweet. Am I wrong? Should I restore this? I don't really want to deal with the hard drive issues known to plague war gods cabs. I thought I would just throw a J-Pac in it so I don't have to re-wire too much.

You do what ever you want with it. As long as you could easily convert it rev.. yada yada... you have probably heard this to many times. :)

Edit: Hey! I see you have a Speed Buggy arcade listed in your VAPS.. Would you mind posting up some inside/back pictures of it?
I've been looking for where the heck the serial numbers, tags or whatever are located. I cannot seem too find it!!

War Gods is not your typical 6 button layout so without doing some work on the control panel, your layout wont' be ideal

Game sucks so go ahead and covert it to Mame. That's what I plan on doing with mine.

I love those Midway cabinets. I would make it a MAME machine too since you will have to update the control panel anyway as was previously posted.

I picked this up today. I'll post pics tomorrow. The guy selling it said that it was not working, but the cab was complete. I get there and the monitor has been taken apart; there was only a tube. The wiring was litterally torn all to hell and the back door was missing (I know a minor thing, but it bugged me since he said the game was complete). I offered the guy $60.00 for it and he accepted.

I get home and start looking at the wiring. The wiring harnesses were all jacked up. Someone had gone in there and just connected things that "Looked" like they might go together. It took me about 15 minutes to straighten it all out. I plugged in the game and it plays blind. The motherboard and hard drive appears to be fully functioning.

you can pretty easily turn that panel into something if you hack it up, just put two holes above/below the middle button and fill in that one. i have a MK2 panel that was converted to street fighter where this was done and it works fine for a 6 button layout. of course if you don't want to hack up the control panel you could try to find a killer instinct panel which will fit right in there and give you a good standard 2 player 6 button layout. or you can pretty easily make your own panel, you just need a piece of wood in that rectangle dimension.

I have a war gods cab and a MK4 cab and I have mutiple control panels I can easily swap in and out of either, it works well for that.

as for war gods, I would not bother trying to restore it, it's an awful game.
