I have been looking around for my first Pin. I am wanting a multi ball, but not sure where to start. These things seem to be crazy in price compared to Arcades. I will have to save up for one that I do know. What would yall recommend I look at. I am in the Colorado Springs area. V/R

Depends on what your budget is. Single multiball machines start in the low $1000's and DMD's start around $2000. I would try out as many as you can in the local arcades or bars to get a feel for what you want. I have a Gottlieb Gladiators that I will be selling soon, one of the higher rated ones with a DMD for under $2000. PM me if your interested.

Thank you for the info. I think Ill save around 2k. Seems like that will give me some room.

stick with bally or Williams. check the ratings of pins that interest you on pinside. you can also get idea of what they sell for as pinside keeps track of past sales(click on pin and it will give you details). if you buy smart, you will probably be able to sell it for what you paid or more later down the road.

t2 would be a good choice. popular and very reliable. might be slightly above $2k, but it depends on location and condition.

Don't buy a pin with playfield wear or that has paint touched up on the playfield. open the head and look at the boards. look for battery acid damage and burnt connectors. look to see if some idiot soldered wires directly to the board.

If its replacing parts I could manage that. If its trouble shooting boards I would be a lost soul for sure.

Honestly? Whatever you can find cheaply working near you that has a theme you can stand. Play it.

When something breaks, and it will, fix it. Repeat over and over. Decide if you need a second one or not. You will.

Sell all your arcade games to support your new pin hobby. Start modding the pins with mods that cost as much as the pin its on.

Sell several older pins to get your first NIB Stern. Ooh and ahh at the shiny newness. Decide you have to only buy new pins from now on.

This seems to be the standard pin progression. Embrace it. ;)

Man I can get addicted easy for sure. Only thing keeping me inline is the wife. Best thing is fall and winter are for my hobbies, Spring and summer are hers so I got a bit of time to find and save

Also this. You think hunting and tinkering with arcades is addicting...welcome to the jungle :)

Certainly a great cold weather hobby and one the entire family can enjoy. I could never tell you what game to buy, just that you have to play a bunch of games to see what you like. I would suggest heading over to Lyons pinball and playing. Also Rocky Mountain Pinball Showdown is another local option, but you just missed it. I am sure other collectors may offer you some time to hang. You could make the trip to Nebraska and play mine!

My first pinball machine was Fish Tales. I'd recommend it.

Great game, lots going on...and can be had a little above 2k.

Thinking I might get my vmax tuned up and sell it. I cant ride anymore and it just sits. Only thing keeping me from doing that is it was a surprise welcome home gift, but dang I'm getting anise for a Pin
