Wanted: Star Trek: SOS Board Set

That's not a small order...

Chatanooga Pinball has had a set up on ebay for months now- $400

These are 'marked working, but unable to test'...

I'd sell a working set, but I'd probably kick myself later.

How much do you want to spend?

Oh- and I've got maybe 40 or 50 miscellaneous tested NON-WORKING boards from the Sega Vector G80 series. That's what I consider my 'archive'...

Send a PM to Mongo, he might have some of the parts you need.

I've noticed that a lot of times this game is sold without the monitor but everything else and this is usually cheaper than buying the individual parts. Of course, the parts might not be working...

Is the monitor actually working? It's not easy to find people to repair g08 monitors these days. P&L will work on it, I was in there yesterday and the owner told me he can repair them, but hasn't worked on one in a long time.

This game can be a chronic pain the ass.

The monitor is questionable right now. However, the previous owner is an arcade repair man from the 80s. Although some X-Y monitor repairs might be out of his repertoire, he thinks he can get it working. If not, I'll pursue other options. I know there are a couple of places out there. I'll keep P&L in mind.

The goal at this point would be to assemble all of the necessary pieces. Either that or I attempt to sell the cabinet to subsidize a working upright. That said, I would really like to have a working sit down machine for pure nostalgic reasons.

I'd probably be willing to part with $200 for a working board set.

Thanks for the feedback, fellas.

ST:SOS More info and thank you...

Turns out I'm getting some extra spare plastic pieces for the chair too. He had two at one point. Get this: The machines were converted to a CHOPLIFTER and some other game. As a result they no longer sport the awesome graphics on the sides. I'm going to get repros done--but they won't be exact. I can only find side-art for the uprights. So I'm going to measure, scale and attempt to copy as closely as possible the original art.

I'm now willing to pay $300 for a working board set. The only reason I can do this is that I have very little in on the rest of the unit. A power supply would be nice too.

Thanks for the info on P&L. I'm probably going to use them for the G08 repair if necessary. I called them and they charge $150.

I have worked on G08's in the past. Mainly my own, but others too.

I can work on them again. Do you have specific issues, or a completely dead monitor. The HV section is the worst to mess with, but the deflection boards and transistor assemblies are straightforward if you are methodical about things.

I have started dumping a lot of parts recently. All of my extra G80 boards were in the hands of Mark H. in Chicago as of a few weeks ago. Not sure what he will want for a working set once he gets around to repairing them all. That is assuming he would sell them at all....

The boards are EASY to come by. Do you have the cage? Do you have the ISO transformer? Do you have the wiring harness? A few months ago I had spares of all of these things but I have been redistributing my long hoarded items to other collectors. I am sure I could give you enough leads to find all of the parts you are missing....

I might have a working boardset. But I will have to test it. Came in a waterlogged cab I got in Seattle a few years ago. It was suppost to work, but I have not had time to test it. I have alot of Go8 parts and maybe a PS too!!
