i am looking for a small variety of redemption prizes for my son's birthday party. we are having an arcade themed party and i have a redemption game which will have a fresh stack of tickets. i am looking for the stupid glass-counter prizes such as army men, finger handcuffs, pop-ups, etc.. mostly boys but i wanted like 8-10 things to choose from.

i did run into some on craigslist a while ago, but they wanted to sell bulk.. i dont need a thousand of the same item. maybe 100 of each would be good.

I think I can help you out. How many kids are going to be at the party?

probably about 10-12 kids all ages 9 and under.. plus two girls under 6.

What about heading down to the local dollar store?

That usually is the option for the goodie bags, but we are trying to go and have as close of an experience as possible for them.

What about heading down to the local dollar store?

Thats what I was going to suggest earlier. Most of the crap at chuck e cheese and such is junk, aside from the unobtainable 20,000 ticket items and such. Get some bins, some erasers shaped like something, some candy, and other cheap crap, and a few toys from big lots, and youd be all set! Go into chuck e cheese or equivalent and see what they have.

Not that it matters for if you are buying only a few items but the Dollar stores are actually expensive. One that I've seen is the Giant Pixie Sticks. You can buy a box of 50 of them at Sam's club for around $11. Which works out to $.22 each. But they are $1 each at the dollar store. Which is around 450% markup if you use the price from Sam's club. And you know that they are getting them for less than the Sam's club is selling them for.

Candy is a good choice for this sort of thing. Unlike the finger traps and toys, you can eat the leftovers. Sam's club and BJ's club have the best prices.
