Wanted: Pictures/Methods for minor bottom repair of cabinets

I need some help deciding how to fix the damage at the bottom of my cabinet. The cabinet is solid, cabinet floor is good, just the bottom of the sides and front need attention.
(It looks like it was set on ground and got some moisture/bug damage)

I've thought about cutting off the wood right under the "floor" of the cabinet and adding the missing wood back, bondo and paint.

I figure if anyone is willing to share some pictures and methods they have found to work. I'm not after the "rebuild" major jobs, just minor repair work. I want to be sure the end result is durable.

I'll post pictures of my cabinet issues when i get time.

Go to the Restoration Showcase and look at Jedidentist's TRON resto at the bottom of the page. He chopped off and recreated a few good inches off the bottom of his cabinet.

If it is just raggedy looking, the easist fix it to get some 3/4" aluminum channel or 3/4" aluminum L bar, paint it black (use primer) and bolt it on to the bottom.

Here is what I used on a Moon Patrol to cover the raggedy edge. I used some wood filler first to smooth out the worst of the cracking. Then bolted 3/4" auminum corner stock from HD (after painting it black with Rustoleum textured paint).

Here are some pics.
The back and right side aren't so bad, but the front and left definitely need some help.

Question... for filler, is bondo or wood filler best?

Some games you can use a plywood blade to trim off the bad material (plywood games like nintendo). Others may need some new medium density fiber board to replace the bad part. If it is minor swelling or chipping a little bond, sanding an new paint works.

I've restored several antique wooden cabinets over the years. if the cabinet is painted and you have a bad edge or indentations.... using bondo is easyest! Cracks should be glued and then filled with bondo.

...and exposed wood grain materials should be replaced with new wood.

ps .....wet fiberboard, mdf and hardboard will never re-finish like new by just sanding, but a thin coat of bondo can sand flat and last forever!

nice work yellowdog looks real nice

i cut some 1 x 2's and make a square for the bottom of the cab and screw/glue it to the bottom. i cut it JUST RIGHT so the cabinet doesnt auctually sit on the bottom of the sides, front and back of the cab, it sits on the square with just a couple millimeters to spare. kinda like its floating above the floor if you bend down and look real close.
also, whatever repairs i make to the bottom of the cab arent actually sitting on the floor supporting any weight and arent damaged from moving the cab or tipping the cab, etc. paint everything black and you have a floating game !

sorry no photos as of right now as my only example is up in my storage unit.
