do you guys need a specific model number?
Im looking for a BIOS chip.
i think mine may be a great board with a single chip replacement..
Wanna see if I can get this board going again..

Which 1 slot?

They have models with standard 40 pin 27C1024 type ROMs and models with 2 different types (and pinouts!) of surface mount ROMs.

What makes you think your BIOS is bad? Are you getting error messages? What do you see on the screen?

We'll

we;ll I figure ill try bios first.
Best way I can describe it when fired up the splash screen looks chopped in half. (Read on)
1/2 looks the orignal professional. the 2nd half looks like someone took a BIT by BIt drawing program and drew the rest in. it looks like a corruption and as of now I figure it cant hurt to try a bios swap and a good cleaning..

I bought it I think it was a member from here. Id have to check pm's but It seems like it wants to continue running and doing what it should..
but at the start when pulling info from Bios, Its funny looking.
ill have to try and take a pic of it..

Here is a pic of similar what mine is
(pictured unit IS NOT MINE)

the bios chip on mine is
toshiba 9048eaI
TC531024P-15
SP-U2
C472 japan

Its the only one NOT surface mounted.. I would really hope this one board surface mounted.. :(

Please post pics of the screen.

If you have BIOS problems on the Neo you get error messages. Your issues sound like a dirty cartridge or slot issue.

**update Sorry been distracted. hope to do tonight tomarrow and

damnit. ok, read me, now trace jumps? quote please

Ok, went to fire it up today to get pics. guess what it changed behaivor.
now comes up with what would look like garbage on the screen then switches to black.
though ok interesting, I have seen this happen with slots when data in the system is in need of a severe reset. (bally machine early video poker)..

upon frusteration and deciding ok interesting change, i went end to end of the board. and guess what noticed a few surface traces showing green fuzz.. looks like the battery leaked very slowly or slightly over time and ate some of the traces..
Does look like these are easily jumped as you can see where they went to solder points at termination, and very clear runs to the surface mount chip..

Soo ill attach a couple pics. I just am out of practice to feel comfortable trace jumping its been 5 or so years..

Any suggestions? any members who do repairs able to ball park a quote?
Cant afford right now, but dosen't hurt to gather the info

OK...

On that board the damage is minor. Remove the battery ASAP and clean the board as best as you can.

Those traces next to the battery go to the DIP switches. If they get eaten up then you won't be able to use the switch to go to hardware tests.

Next, you need to clean the slots and the cartridge very well. If that doesn't fix the system then remove and reseat the upright board. After that, look on the bottom of the board for gouged traces.

The issue you have shouldn't be caused by a battery leaking on that particular model of board. It's a problem with the address lines going to the graphics ROMs.

Since this is a repair thread now and not a WTB thread, I flagged it and asked for it to be moved to the repair help section.

Yes, Now a tech issue, MODS please move thread to Tech talk and kill dupe thread.

Yea, once I started to clean the heck out of the board I did find it to be less than it fist looked like. It also appears the solder pads do continuity test back to the chip by there.
As of now when I try to enter test mode using the test or even service button on power supply I get nothing. (I am running a jamma boards NEO to Jamma adapter)

I did cut out the battery today.
I used a brush with contact cleaner and scrubbed that area and cleaned it off with
many blasts of ES contact cleaner. i have removed the upright board about 5 times today.

Next I will be checking the bottom of the board for gouged traces.
will report back on what I find..
I also did take off that cardboard/foam cover on the bottom side of the board.

Thank you for the flag. I ended up going a lil gunho on this one
and figured I cant hurt it much more. so im going to make this my 1st bought dead and see how well I can revive the board back to life Arcade project :)

Ok, well 1st board with repairs / aid needed. I did restore the cab back to original wiring without any funky switch :)
