Hi,
I am searching the complete Pinout for a Namco Pole Position II pcb.
One difference to the Atari Board is that the amplifiers are mounted on the board. Does anyone have the complete pinout ?
Thanks in advance

Nope, I'm afraid these aren't the droids we're looking for. Haven't seen a pinout or manual for the Namco version anywhere before. Would be cool if anyone has it! I own a Pole Position board and still got the harness but have no time at the moment to check the pinouts myself though.

cheers, prc

Did you ever find the source site on this? Apparently I have a working Namco Pole Position II board set which is kinda cool.

I would like to have a pinout schematic as well, and can not seem to find this anywhere.

Does anyone know on the Namco board if it is recommended to remove the mini battery?

Also, I can find information on the Atari Pole Position II on what chip to remove and replace it with to keep high scores, but does anyone know what chip to remove, and what chip to replace on the Namco Pole Position II board to keep high scores??

The PP II pinout is the same as PP. it's the same board, just upgraded. Consult the PP schematics.

It's almost always advisable to remove 30 year old batteries before they leak and damage the PCB.

About the high score NVRAM, see this thread: http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=300104

The Atari and Namco Pole Position pcbs are two totally different beasts. Look it up. I was astonished too, and when I checked my Namco PP II pcb, yes it was totally different than the more common Atari PP II pcb, and the pineouts are in a completely different spot and completely different.

ah, OK. my mistake. in that case...

I have no idea about a pin out or schematic. However I'd expect it's electronically the same, just a different layout. (Atari liked to lay out their own PCBs, even if Namco designed the hardware...)

For the nvram, just find a 6116 near the sound CPU (Z80).

Removal of the battery is still a good idea. I assume it's dead anyhow. no point leaving it there.
