WANTED: Degaussing Coil

They show up quite regularly on EBay. Be careful though, some people just rip the degausing coils off a monitor, add a switch and a power plug. This will work, but these can burn up quickly if you hold tham on for very long. Better to get a commercial one. Or go with a tape demagnatizer. They are a little trickier to use, as the magnetic field is more focused, but they do work.

Bob has them in stock:

Search for 'Degauss'. Bought mine from Bob.

One of the arcade machine operators I worked for had a degausser made from a monitor degaussing coil. It was wrapped in electrical tape and had a momentary switch (had to press it to engage the coil - it would not stay engaged unless pressed). It worked fine.
YMMV.

I tried the bulk eraser (aka tape demagnetizer) and it was an epic fail on my 27" monitor.

I got a new degaussing coil for $19.95 +s/h from usamusement.com and it did a great job.
