Besides acquiring a domain, what service, site, or apps help make a website easy? I have zero web design experience.

Do I use the same site to host and create my page? Or are there better options? Sorry if these are stupid questions but I really have no idea...

Facebook for me...

I use Facebook as a "page" for my game room... Then I'll post stuff like updates from around the web having to deal with arcade games and classics... Www.Facebook.com\blackcatbar

My room isn't big, only a Baby Pac Man and a MAME machine... But I wanted to get on the wagon kind of like you want to...

Used 1&1 for years until I found Bluehost. With that said either should work nicely to get you started.

My recommendation is to buy the domain separate and use hosting with a 3rd party. Makes it easy to move the domain if you have problems with the web hosting.

Bluehost is generally fine for a basic site. I've seen a few issues with their sql hosting and cpu errors but thats it. Unless you need a database they are fine.

If you have no design/web skills I would seriously look at squarespace.com. It's hosting and easy (NICE) site-creation tools all in one.

I use Dreamweaver.

I use MS frontpage (Old program) to make the site.

Crazy domains registered my 3 sites (Realllllly cheap), a friend hosts my site on his server, and I use cuteFTP to upload my site/pics

I have better editors than MS frontpage, but I like the simple side to the program

can't go wrong with WLDFIRE from right here on KLOV.
get the domain from godaddy then he can host it very reasonably with built in webtools like wordpress, etc.
i knew nothing about websites before May but he made it really easy to get going. see my link below.

What are you looking to do? Just set-up an informational page about your arcade, pictures, stories, etc?

Our new site is one option if you're going that route: CollectedIt.com

You can upload multiple pictures of each game you own, give some background on it, etc.

I want to have my own domain. CollectedIt is cool but I also want it to feel like its own home you know?

I plan to do the usual pictures with pickup stories but also do editorials and such. I also want to do repair logs/journals with pictures for detail.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I'll be looking into them.

Almost all major hosting companies have 1-click Wordpress, Joomla, or Drupal installations. These are CMS (content management systems) frameworks, that allow you to use a WYSIWYG editor. Hope that helps.

I'm using Weebly free for the hosting and design. Pretty happy with it. Simple to use, wide variety of designs, and I have tons of photos on there with no slowdown and no warnings of excedded bandwith. Best part is free hosting with no frickin' ads.

1and1.com has some of the best hosting packages for newbies.
Stay away from GoDaddy.

Yeah 1and1.com isn't too bad, good prices.
I also like Wordpress for making the page. There are tons of plugins and support for it. I've put the new Wordpress 3.4.1 on 1and1.com and it works fine.
