My brother n law has all these used computers and 25 In. monitors and I need to know how to use this computer to get the old classic games of the 80's? Do you buy the games or how do you actually program the computer with these games ?How to build a good sturdy cab. and other info on how to get this to work good. Budget will have to be under $100. I saw on a web-site for controllers (joy sticks) and buttons were cheap money wise. Please help as we like to get this done soon. Thanks, Jeff

realism

You'll only get basically a control panel for $100. This is if you are using your computer to run games in emulation and play MAME off of a recycled PC Monitor which doesn't look right IMHO.

The cheap way is to find a shelled out old Arcade cab that someone is throwing out. That won't be too much $50~ but you'll need to clean it up alot. New wood and parts for the Cab alone will run you upwards to $100 after paint and stuff. This is w/out custom artwork and arcade hardware extras like coin doors.

Do lots of research on Arcadecontrols and MAME world

A decent game board alone will run upwards to $100. Even a 60:1 vertical board will run you that amount.

alright

Well thanks for the links guys :) I'am not sure what happycampers is all about I tried to download a few games and was not succesful so if someone can help with, how to get games installed into the cabinet to play. I read alot about emulators and roms but it not making sense to me. I did get some measurements on the construction of the cab and we will make adjustments as we need to personalize it to our liking, it was to give us a general idea on making one, I'am reading up on interface wiring and how all that works and seems confusing to me. I need some step by step instructions if possible. Someone here has got to point me in the right direction, as I do appreciate all the help so far. My brother'n'law has access to alot of computers and nice monitors as he works for a school and the old computers they give to him, he's has 9 pentium 3's and several pentium 2's and like 20 or so monitors 17" and up, or should we use a T.V.? We dedicated and serious and I will be posting pic's as soon as we are ready to start cutting the wood, or is MDF better choice? Thanks guys.

Since I don't have any ROMs on happycampers, you would have been wasting your time. It's just a personal site and I have some arcade stuff there. It is not actively maintained and is definitely not a ROM site.

The link that was provided above was merely a mirror of plans that were provided on jakobud.com, which is now back up and running.
